Reiki Sessions

Finals got you stressed? Need some help feeling more centered? Join Mallory Kimmel in the The Gallery at CCBC Essex on 5/6, 5/7, 5/13, 5/14 for a free reiki session. All are welcome to receive reiki on a walk-in basis, come by anytime during 12pm-5pm, no RSVP needed. All are welcome to receive in their ideal terms of personal comfort and safety. Reiki will be offered via chair and table reiki as well as hands-on and hands-off reiki depending on the receiver's individual wishes.

What is reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing. The word Reiki comprises the two Japanese characters, rei, meaning universal spirit, and ki, meaning vital life force or energy.

If you are familiar with getting a massage, reiki can be similar in the fact that the receiver lays on a massage/reiki table and the practitioner places their hands on their body.

Where reiki differs from massage is the receiver remains fully clothed on the table at all times, and the practitioner places their hands on the receiver's body for set intervals of time with their hands lightly placed on the body not to massage or engage the muscles of the body, but to transfer energy through the practitioner's hands the receiver's body.

How it works is the practitioner through their training has learned ancient sacred reiki symbols that the practitioner draws in their mind's eye while their hands are placed on the body or hovering right above the body of the receiver. These symbols are benevolent and are used to support physical, emotional, mental, and other forms of well-being. At the beginning of each session, the practitioner asks the receiver if they have an intention they would like to set and share with the practitioner. This intention will support the energy healing session.
